SIGA wins the Family Business Award

On Thursday 12th September 2013, the second Family Business Award presentation ceremony was held as part of a festive event on the Bundesplatz in Bern. In the presence of about 200 leading figures from the worlds of economics and politics, SIGA Holding AG was presented with the Family Business Award, making it one of the most enduring family businesses in Switzerland.

A deserving winner

Once again, more than 100 family businesses from throughout Switzerland showed their interest in the Family Business Award, which rewards sustainable and value-oriented entrepreneurship. The seven-person Family Business Award jury – consisting of Dr Hanspeter Burkhardt, Pascale Bruderer Wyss, Klaus Endress, Jürg Läderach, Monika Ribar, Dr Thomas Staehelin and Albert P. Stäheli – was asked to judge the short-list of 15 companies from which the three finalists would be chosen. In the end, SIGA Holding AG beat Ernst Schweizer AG and Wipf Holding AG by a whisker. The award was greeted with particular delight in the company of Reto and Marco Sieber. “The award is a very special recognition for more than 30 years of joint management of the company,” said Reto Sieber while Marco Sieber added that, “Without the commitment and loyalty of our employees, we would never have been awarded this honour.”

The Family Business Award is a sign of entrepreneurial sustainability

AMAG Automobil- und Motoren AG launched the Family Business Award in honour of its founder and patron Walter Haefner, who always championed an authentic and living corporate culture.
